Harvi Advanced

Harvi-Advanced is intended for students, fellows and postgraduates interested to take a deeper dive into cardiovascular physiology and the hemodynamics of disease and therapeutics. This version includes two textbooks (with additional textbooks in development) and an extensive cardiovascular simulation with the ability to simulate a multitude of common disease states and introduce various therapies, including mechanical support devices.

Simulation Parameters

The Harvi-Advanced simulation gives access to

  • Vary detailed properties of the ventricles, atrial and vascular systems
  • Introduce and vary severity of valve pathologies
  • Introduce and vary severity of common shunts (ASD, VSD, PDA)
  • Introduce and vary left main coronary artery stenosis and learn about coronary autoregulation and the balance between ventricular energy supply and demand
  • Introduce and vary pericardial constraints and effusions
  • Alter the heart rhythm (PACs, VT, AFib)
  • Introduce and vary doses of some frequently used drugs
  • The Patient Simulator, which will adjust simulation parameter values to match a specified hemodynamic profile

  • Pressure-volume loops of 2 or 4 chambers simultaneously
  • A wide range of continuous signal tracings over time (e.g., blood pressure, pulmonary pressures, blood flow profiles across any cardiac valve, LV and RV pressures and volumes, blood flow profile through

  • Real-time display of myocardial oxygen consumption and ventricular work
  • Pressure-flow characteristics of different forms of mechanical circulatory support

  • A wide ranges of standard cardiovascular parameters (e.g., blood pressure, pulmonary pressures, cardiac output, LV and RV ejection fractions, volumes and pressures)
